The Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association is proud to feature our 2019-2020 Board President, Dr. Camelia L. Clarke, DBA in our new monthly Featured Member Profile!

Camelia graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science, Cardinal Stritch University (BSBA), Marquette University (EMBA), and the University-Wisconsin Whitewater with a Doctor of Business Administration. She is currently the President of Paradise Memorial Funeral Home in Milwaukee where she operates with her husband, Marcel A. Clarke. She is the first African American to serve as Board President for the WFDA.

Camelia became more active in the WFDA because she loved attending the Annual Convention. She was very impressed by the resources that the WFDA provided as well as the legislative advocacy provided in Madison. However, her favorite aspect of the WFDA is spending time with her colleagues. She states, “Our profession is very unique which makes it difficult for non-industry professionals to understand the work-life balance challenges that we face. So, it’s great to be able to share stories, best practices, and recommendations with each other to help manage our challenges.” Camelia’s goal as President of the WFDA is to put the association back on the path to where we are re-growing our membership by one firm at a time. “With the changing landscape of the current death care industry, funeral professionals need to rely on each other to develop strategic strategies to provide superior services to our families while operating competently,” she explained.

In Camelia’s spare time, she enjoys spending time outdoors and on the beach with her husband and children. She has traveled to 37 states and 10 countries. She is also a huge Packers fan!
